Frequently-asked questions will find an answer below. If you can’t find the answer to a question you would like to ask, do not hesitate to contact us at info@columbiahotel.it !!

What’s included in the All Inclusive list?

The All Inclusive package includes:

  • FREE CHILDREN: children (who are staying in the same room with 2 full-price persons) do not pay or receive a discount (depending on their age);
  • Breakfast buffet with brioches, homemade cakes, cappuccino, tea, coffee, barley coffee, milk, chocolate, juices, cheese, salami and bologna, paté, assorted jams, yogurt, biscuits, cookies, honey, butter, Nutella (chocolate cream), crackers and biscuit rusks, toasts, different kinds of bread, cereals and muesli, fresh fruits.
  • Lunch and dinner with menu: first course (four different options), second course (four different options), a vegetable buffet, a fruit or a dessert – all at our brand new restaurant Cucina Retrò, fully renovated in 2012.
  • Good care and specific products for children and celiac, vegetarian and allergic guests: we can prepare you babyfood paying strict attention to your instructions, we have gluten-free products, and we always offer alternatives for a vegan or vegetarian diet.
  • Beverages included at meals: water, house wine, a soft drink or a soda (pepsi or coca cola).
  • Internet Wi-Fi connection all over the hotel: in the rooms, in the restaurant, in the hall, in the swimming pool. Plus an Internet point at your disposal if you do not travel with your tablet or laptop.
  • Air Conditioning in every room and in the restaurant.
  • Night entertainment at the hotel with baby dance, music, live piano bar, games and so much fun!!
  • Ample garden with playground for children
  • Free beach service: it offers, for each room, a beach umbrella, one deckchair and one sunbed (or two sunbeds) at the two bathing establishments right in front of the hotel.
  • Swimming pool and sunroof: relaxing areas with swimming pool, sunbeds and tables, with lifeguard. The swimming pool has two ends, one suitable for children and one for adults.
  • Bicycle service: more than 20 bikes at your disposal, also for children
  • Room with SKY satellite tv set: in your room you’ll find more than one hundred SKY channels, besides italian and international satellite networks
  • New SAMSUNG LCD Tv sets in every room, from 22’’ to 32’’, with SKY Gold PayTv.
  • Cinema in Hotel: movies and cartoons at night in the Cinema Hall.
  • Books and information material: in the hotel there’s a library about the Ravenna’s territory and Emilia Romagna. In your room you will find magazines and books (that you can take home if you wish to finish them!)
  • Unattended free parking space
  • Seasonal services calendar: entertainment (07/06 – 31/08) – swimming pool (15/05 – 16/09) – beach service (01/04 – 06/10) – sauna (30/9 – 31/05) – air conditioning (14/5 – 15/09) – SKY TV: 10 active rooms all year round, 43 active rooms from 01/06 to 31/08

What’s NOT included in the All Inclusive package?

Here’s a list of the available services which are not included in the All Inclusive vacation list:

  • Bar: any drink or snack consumed at the bar
  • Room service
  • Laundry service for adults and children
  • Dishes from the restaurant Cucina Retrò’s À La Carte Menu
  • Some movies and sports events on SKY pay-tv
  • Medical or pediatric care
  • Baby-sitting (available on demand)
  • Horse riding: at the hotel it is possible to book a “baptism of the saddle” service and beautiful horse rides around Marina Romea.
  • Entry tickets to Mirabilandia are usually not included, UNLESS stated in your booking confirmation
  • Tourist Tax.

What’s included in the Half Board list?

The Half Board pricelist offers the same services than the All Inclusive deal; the only difference consists of having either lunch or dinner.

What’s included in the B&B (bed and breakfast) list?

The B&B (Bed & Breakfast) list includes the same services than the All Inclusive one.

There are 2 differences:

  • lunch and dinner are not included;
  • for weekend guests staying only 1 or 2 night(s), beach service is not included on saturdays and sundays: it is available with a 30% discount.

What is the Tourist Tax?

From February 1st 2013, the Municipality of Ravenna is subject to a Tourist Tax.

Tourist Tax is not included in the price of your room and it must be paid in cash.

The Tourist Tax is 2.00 € a day per person (above 14 years old), for a maximum of 7 consecutive nights.

The following categories are exempted:

  • children under the age of 14;
  • people who assist a patient admitted to a local hospital, including outpatient care, for a maximum of one assistant per patient;
  • personnel belonging to local or State police, to the military, firemen or Civil Protection officers on duty;
  • coach drivers and holiday reps assisting groups in a trip organized by a tour operator or a travel agency. One driver or holiday rep every 25 participants is exempted;
  • hotel staff;
  • disabled people (over 76% disability), with proper documents, together with their caregiver (one perso) if the disablity is 100%.

Which services and products are never included in the price?

Here’s a list of available services which not included in the price:

  • Bar: any order at the bar is extra
  • Room service
  • Laundry service for adults and children
  • Dishes from the restaurant Cucina Retrò’s À La Carte Menu
  • Some movies and sports events on SKY pay-tv
  • Medical or pediatric care

Is it possible to make up for a missed/skipped meal?

Yes, it is. But only as long as you’re hotel Guests.

Is it possible to have a discount for a missed/skipped meal? Is it possible to have a discount if we didn’t use beach service? Is it possible to have a discount because service XYZK was not used?

No, it is not possible. We are not charging our prices on a per service basis: it is not possible to get a discount because one or more services were not used.

Which payment methods does the Hotel accept?

For All Inclusive and Half Board packages and special offers, the Columbia Hotel accepts cash, bank transfers and checks (checks must be provided at the beginning of your stay).

For B&B packages and for the À La Carte Menu of our restaurant, we accept any credit or debit card.

If you’re staying for the weekend, we suggest that you pay upon your arrival, so that you can avoid a long queue at checkout.

At what time can I get to the hotel?

Your room is available from 2 pm. You can also check-in early in the morning: if your room is not available yet, you can leave your bags in our luggage room. If you happen to arrive earlier than planned, you can enjoy our bar, our swimming pool, beach service, our garden and terrace, and your children can use the playground. We apologize for any delay or inconvenience during busy days with lots of arrivals or departures.

What’s the last possible hour to get to the hotel? (late check-in)

If you believe you are going to arrive after 7 pm, we kindly ask you to inform us in advance (if possible) via telephone or email. Sometimes we are able to keep the restaurant open (it usually closes at 10:00 pm) if you want something to eat. Our night staff will welcome you at any time in the night.

At what hour do I have to leave the room?

We expect our Guests to leave their room before 10–10:30 am in order to allow us to clean it and prepare it for the next Guest.

How do I send the deposit?

The Columbia Hotel asks for a 30% deposit as confirmation of your reservation, with a bank transfer. As an alternative, you can send your credit card details as a guarantee: the card will be verified and the deposit amount will be pre-authorized.

Upon confirmation of your reservation, you will receive all the relevant instructions. If you decide to send your deposit via bank transfer, the reason for the payment MUST be specified: “Deposit no. ## + reservation no. ### + your surname”.

What happens if I need to cancel?

Guests can cancel their reservation and terminate their contract. In such a case they may obtain a full or partial refund (of the deposit), in accordance with our “Cancellation policy”, which you can find in your reservation.

Three different cancellation policies are active at the moment:

  • Standard:
    • cancellation 20 or more days before the date of your arrival: 100% refund
    • cancellation from 19 to 10 days before: 50% refund
    • cancellation less than 10 days before: 0%, the deposit will be retained by the hotel as compensation for damages
  • Mirabilandia
    • cancellation 15 or more days before the date of your arrival: 100% refund
    • cancellation from 14 to 10 days before: 50% refund
    • cancellation less than 10 days before: 0%, the deposit will be retained by the hotel as compensation for damages
  • Prepaid
    • it is not refundable: the service is paid in advance and it is equivalent to 100% of your total expenses, on a non-refundable basis.

What will happen if you need to leave earlier than expected?

Local customs and practices will be applied:

  • any special offer, discount or promotion will be canceled and you will need to pay standard prices;
  • you will need to pay for your stay and for services you used, plus a compensation equivalent to the price of your room (overnight stay only) multiplied by the number of days you canceled, up to a maximum penalty of three days.

In order to avoid legal disputes and complaints, we inform you that the Columbia Hotel Ravenna is a member of the Charter of Quality Tourism Services at Ravenna’s Chamber of Commerce: our dispositions are in compliance with page 20 of that document, which mentions local customs and practices. Our Guests, by buying a stay at the Columbia Hotel, accepts our Legal Terms and Conditions, which also appear online on our website.

How far is the sea from the Columbia Hotel?

The Columbia Hotel is located on the seafront right at the center of Marina Romea, in the main square. A narrow strip of natural pinewood separates Marina Romea from the beach (less than 400 meters); you can easily go to the beach on foot, walking through the pinewood; the beach is also accessible by bike or car.

How far are Ravenna and its Byzantine mosaics from the Columbia Hotel?

Ravenna, with its beautiful mosaics and its delightful Byzantine art and architecture, is just 10 kilometers away.

Are animals allowed to stay at the hotel? My pet is so tiny!!

We regret to inform you that animals, of any kind, are not allowed, even when they are small or tiny in size. Unfortunately, we’re not equipped for them yet. Thank you for your understanding!

Is the hotel accessible to disabled people?

The Columbia Hotel is accessible to disabled people. It provides a TGR Jolly stairlift which can be attached to the wheelchair; then, driven by an operator, it will take the person upstairs. One first-floor room has a bathroom with wheelchair access; guests staying in other rooms (with non-accessible bathroom) have access to two shared bathrooms, one with a bathtub and one with a shower, outside their room.

How far is the Mirabilandia fun park from the Columbia Hotel?

There are at least 3 ways to get to the Mirabilandia funpark: the shortest one is 20 km long. The Hotel management will provide you with a very simple map and all information to reach it.

Is a shuttle bus available to reach Mirabilandia?

Yes, there usually is a shuttle bus available to reach Mirabilandia (provided by an independent company), whose stop is right in front of the hotel. The service is available on Wednesdays and Thursdays, from June 26th to August 30th. The bus leaves at 9.30 am from the Columbia Hotel, you will be back at 6 pm, directly from Mirabilandia. The return ticket costs about € 9,00 per person. As an alternative, you can also use public transportation: bus no. 90 from the hotel to Ravenna, then bus no. 176 or no. 44 from Ravenna to Mirabilandia.

Is the ticket for Mirabilandia included in your prices?

Entrance to Mirabilandia follows the Mirabilandia Fun Park’s own rules:

  • Children under the age of 11: FREE ENTRY until May 31st, 2013 (but it is possible that Mirabilandia extends this promotion to the whole 2013 season);
  • Children less than 1 meter tall: FREE ENTRY;
  • not self-sufficient disabled people: FREE ENTRY, no ticket will be issued
  • REDUCED TICKET PRICE: after May 31st, 2013 for children under the age of 11 and/or shorter than 140 cm;
  • FULL TICKET PRICE in any other case.

For how long (how many days) is the ticket to Mirabilandia valid?

The ticket is valid for three consecutive days. Before exiting the park on their first day, guests must ask for a bracelet that will guarantee their entrance on the following day. If you forget to ask for your bracelet or you do not keep it until the following day, we regret to inform you that the hotel will not be able to provide you with a new one.
