La Pioppa Restaurant, the Columbia Hotel catering service

Eating in Romagna means eating good. Our culinary tradition is poor, because our region has always had few resources; but don't confuse poverty with quality. The Romagna's cooking is simple and rough, made with natural ingredients taken from our land and primitive flavoured.

At our Restaurant “La Pioppa”, included into the hotel's structure, we prepare Romagna's typical fish dishes, meat dishes and also from the Po Delta Park: seafood risotto, fried fish, grilled eel, homemade pasta such as cappelletti and passatelli, piadina (a typical kind of bread), squacquerone cheese, grilled meat and fish...

To the guests who take advantage of half or full board service we'll daily propose menus with numerous options they can choose from: four options for first courses, four options for second courses, vegetables buffet and fresh salads, fruits or dessert. They can always find at least one fish dish per day, both at lunch and dinner.

During the summer we organize themed dinners and live concerts. Moreover, we organize typical artistic handicraft exhibitions and conferences about archeology, nature and culture.

Homemade pasta such as strozzapreti, passatelli and cappelletti, sausages, chops, muttons are the most famous dishes. Our products come from the sea, the countryside with its woods and make our dishes unique and very tasty. Homemade pasta, worked with the typical “matterello” and served with veal, wildpork or sausage ragout-sauce. Also the minestrone and the bean and pasta soup are very good, while the seafood cooking is very famous and it's principally made with fresh fish and shellfish, fried or dressed with spices and aromas. Another very famous dish is “brodetto”, a fish soup typical of the Adriatic sea: in Romagna it is heavy-bodied, with an intense taste of vinegar, pepper and tomato sauce.

La Pioppa Restaurant is pleased to present some of the typical recipes from Romagna's tradition. W e would like our Clients to know a fundamental aspect of our land and popular culture, through our proposing and re-inventing the great classic dishes from Romagna's territory.
